This last semester, Miss Cleevely's consumer math class registered and submitted to this year's OSLN Design Challenge. OSLN is an acronym that most commonly refers to the Ohio STEM Learning Network (OSLN). It is a public-private partnership committed to advancing high-quality science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education across Ohio. This year, the topic challenge was: How do we improve aspects of electric transportation to improve the movement of people and things? The class was tasked with developing a plan, system or product that addresses the future of electric vehicles (EVs), drones, and advanced air transportation systems in the state of Ohio. The top 21 scoring teams from across the state will be invited to Battelle in Columbus to present and compete at the OSLN Design Challenge State Showcase on March 4, 2026, where the State Showcase Winners will be announced. Our students spent time researching and talking to professionals that would help them gather information about the state of electric transportation in Ohio. Our students came up with the idea of wireless charging pads to charge EVs in public areas.
