Our Design Innovations Class had an amazing opportunity to present their city beautification design project visions to the City Council!

The next step is now constructing each component of their design to unify each vision into one, with the installment of the final project on a vacant lot happening in May!

Two talented teams from Impact Academy put their engineering skills to the test at the Mahoning Valley Miniature Bridge Building Contest! Students designed, constructed, and tested model bridges, focusing on structural efficiency, strength, and precision—all while working within strict design constraints.
Results:
Team 1’s bridge held 15.44 lbs before failure
Team 2’s bridge held an impressive 34.16 lbs before breaking

Two talented teams from Impact Academy put their engineering skills to the test at the Mahoning Valley Miniature Bridge Building Contest! Students designed, constructed, and tested model bridges, focusing on structural efficiency, strength, and precision—all while working within strict design constraints.

Using blueprints, trusses, tension, and compression principles, they crafted bridges using only balsa wood and quick-dry glue. Their creations were tested by local engineers, adding weight until ultimate collapse. The goal? Achieve the highest strength-to-weight ratio!

🔥 Results: 🔹 Team 1’s bridge held 15.44 lbs before failure 🔹 Team 2’s bridge held an impressive 34.16 lbs before breaking

“Allow no limitation to be your limitation.” -Mr. Ralf

A huge congratulations to both teams for their innovation, teamwork, and engineering excellence! 👏💡
