This week students in Spanish 3 are reading a book in Spanish about Felipe Alou, a prominent Dominican baseball player. Today as part of a lesson to understand the importance of baseball in the Dominican Republic, students watched part of the documentary "Rumbo a las Grandes Ligas". Then students were challenged to make baseball gloves out of cardboard. To test the cardboard gloves, students went outside and played a game of baseball with their cardboard gloves and a makeshift bat.
Mr. Childers’ US History class is putting themselves in the shoes of Lewis & Clark as they travel through history. The first step was creating journals that they can keep their findings, next will be taking an expedition through the Louisiana Purchase. Throughout this section they will be designing solutions to problems they may encounter.
Congratulations to our very own Alexa Clark, who was recognized for being on the dean's list this semester at Stark State! Alexa earned this great honor, while also earning high mastery in all of her high school courses as well. We so beyond proud of you Alexa; keep up the hard work.

This week students in Miss Cleevely's sports statistics class worked on developing an assistive device that would enable people with limb loss to play tennis ball and hold the racket as part of the game. Mrs. Fox took part in this with the students as she was able to show them that their prototype was a success in picking up various items.
The next step will be to make modifications so that this prototype can actually be utilized in the tennis arena.
Congrats to all our PBIS winners this week!!

During lunch and learn this week, some of our high school students got to hear from athletic trainer Stephanie Saverko. During the presentation, she spoke about her career at Youngstown State University and Canfield High School. She provided the students information about her field and gave them real life stories. As students continue on their career exploration journey, they were able to ask questions and take part in a hands on demonstration about athletic training.
Miss Livosky’s social studies classes completed their 3D topography maps last week. They were researching different geographical features and how they interact with each other. Once they did their research they created their given geographic feature and then had to make sure they all fit together!

This week, our students in our High School World History class completed a 2 Part project over Imperialism. In class, the students researched countries who were once controlled by a European nation. They looked at current economic, political, and cultural facts/statistics in these countries to see if there are any links to imperialism being a negative impact today.
Outside of the classroom, students went with Mr. Ralf, where they created Political Cartoons related to the countries researched. Their goal was to create a cartoon that can show some message that describes imperialism globally. The students did a great job in both aspects of the project!
